(Driving Safety Tips)

1. Focus on Driving
Dedicate all your attention on driving and on the road at all times. Don’t lie to yourself that you can multi-task.

2. Keep off your phone
Keep off your phone your laptop, your notebook or any other electronic device while driving. And yes, including your car radio! That small distraction can cost you dearly.

3. Go slow on the pedal.
Slow down. Over-speeding gives you less time to react in case of an emergency. Speed also increases the severity of an accident.

4. Don’t Change Clothes
Don’t be tempted to change clothes or remove your coat while driving. Instead, find a safe spot and park before removing your coat.

5. Drive defensively
Be always aware of what other drivers around you are doing, and be always ready for the unexpected. The driver in front of you can suddenly apply emergency brakes! Always assume that other motorists will do something crazy, and be always prepared to self-preserve.

6. Keep Safe Distance
Keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you. This will also depend on weather and visibility. Keep a wider gap in case it’s raining or reduced visibility.

7. Secure Cargo on board
Secure all cargo that may move around or fall while the vehicle is in motion.

8. Don’t pick items
Don’t attempt to retrieve items that fall on the floor while driving. This is enough distraction to land you into trouble. If you doubt this, just try!

9. Keep Items at Easy Reach
Have items likely to be needed during the journey within easy reach. This might include drinks and navigation. Have drink and phone holders installed in your car at locations closest to your steering wheel.

10. Fasten your Seatbelt
Always wear your seat belt. Watch a few videos on YouTube to see what happens when you don’t fasten your seatbelt while driving.

Additional Points
Don’t drink and drive. Don’t drive under the influence of any drug whatsoever. Drugs mess with your perception and visibility. You need a clear mind and sharp senses while driving.

Schedule stop time
Schedule time to stop for food, beverages, rest, phone calls or any other business.

Adjust
Adjust your seat, mirrors and climate controls before putting the car into gear.
